the mentl space
the mentl space is a podcast for open, honest conversations about mental health, wellbeing, leadership and the cultures that help people thrive.
Hosted by Scott Armstrong, founder of mentl, the show brings together leaders, psychologists, doctors, authors, athletes, entrepreneurs, advocates and people with lived experience to explore what mental health means in real life, at work, at home and in the community.
From workplace wellbeing, burnout, psychological safety and inclusion, to parenting, men’s mental health, resilience, digital wellbeing, leadership and the human stories behind change, each episode asks what it really takes to move from awareness to action.
This is a space for practical insight, personal honesty and better conversations about how we live, lead and support one another.
Because when we talk more openly, we make it easier for everyone to thrive.

Turning down the heat - why leaders need a recipe for respect
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." So goes the old adage about intense pressure environments, especially in the hospitality industry.
Recent reports globally have highlighted the mental health challenges many face while working in the sector, including the pressure cooker of high-end kitchens.
TV shows have also dialled up the heat, historically portraying aggression and abuse as commonplace parts of the hospitality industry.
But, are times changing?
On 'the mentl space' we're joined by Naim Maadad, CEO and founder of Gates Hospitality in the UAE, who is on a mission to create a better way, one based on a foundation of respect, psychological safety and empowerment.
And, amid multiple reports of soaring burnout, he has a message for fellow CEOs who fail to change their recipe for leadership.
